Alongside my work in psychiatry and medical humanities, I am involved in rescuing and rehoming ex-commercial hens—who would otherwise be sent to slaughter, giving them a chance to live out their days as much-loved family pets..
There’s something profoundly moving about watching a hen step onto grass for the first time, stretching her wings and enjoying fresh air. It’s a quiet act of restoration, a reminder that care and second chances can make a world of difference.
